2nd Canadian Clubhouse Conference

2 days to go!!

 Two days and the 2nd Canadian Clubhouse Conference will commence at the Novotel in Mississauga!

Our last major task of obtaining a yoga instructor  from Moksha Yoga Studios has been accomplished. We welcome Joy to our conference. She will  provide a holisitic experience to help us relax.

We have all worked very hard to make this amazing event happen and are looking forward to seeing all of you in just a few short days!

One Month to GO!!!

It is now less than a month until the start of our 2nd Canadian Clubhouse Conference! We are all getting very excited and are extremely busy preparing for this event. Within the last month conference agendas have been sent out to Clubhouses and we will be contacting these clubhouses shortly to find out what topics they'd be interested in presenting! It looks like we are going to have a great variety of topics and an even better time!

If you or someone you know of, could provide information or services to promote our Wholeness is Wellness theme we have several tables available for rent at our conference. We are specifically interested in people who can share a healthy approach to recovery with our delegates.

Agenda Building Suggestion Forms have been sent!

We have been hard at work compiling the Agenda Building Suggestions form for the 2nd Canadain Clubhouse Conference. The request form has now been emailed out to all Clubhouses and we look forward to your feedback regarding these workshops.

We have mailed out all the Conference posters and registration packages. The posters were created based on a design by a PAR Clubhouse member.  Be sure to display the Conference posters in your Clubhouse to gear up for a great time.  Get your registration in soon - We look forward to seeing you.

Conference Opening Ceremonies

We have exciting news from PAR Clubhouse, we have just been informed that Mayor Hazel McCallion will be here to bring greetings from the City of Mississauga at our Opening Ceremonies on November 4th 2010!  Also, Mayor Marolyn Morrison, Mayor of Caledon will be in attendance at the Opening Ceremonies.  We are honored to have Mayor McCallion and Mayor Morrison be a part of our conference. 

2nd Canadian Clubhouse Conference Update

Let's give ourselves a round of applause!  We have accomplised so much, it's amazing!  So far we have booked our conference with the Novotel, picked our theme, saved the date cards were professionally printed and sent out, grant applications sent out, our budget has been finalized, lined up all our entertainment, videographer is lined up (Progress Place), photographer booked, guest speakers lined up including the Executive Director of the ICCD and sent out our resgistration packages!

Entertainment has been booked!

We are excited to announce the tentative bookings for our entertainment.  James Gordon (see banner) has generously agreed to donate his time to do a songwriting workshop during the day and play songs from his album "1 in 5" about mental illness in the evening.  See http://www.jamesgordon.ca/ for further information on this artist!

The band we have lined up for our gala night is "New York Minute", a Niagara- area based band who play rock, funk, disco, country, R & B classics and pop music.  They are sure to entertain us with a variety of great music!  See http://www.newyorkminute.ca/ for more on the band!

Timelines Are Working Well!

It's been a while since our last post- but we have been working very hard at planning.  Each clubhouse (PAR North and South) are having regular meetings- we will begin posting updates after each one from here on out.
We have also created timelines that we have now posted in each clubhouse, which helps us keep track of all the tasks we need to be working on and when (and they're pretty nice to look at, too!)

Work is underway to finalize our registration packages, video/photographer to be selected and secure our entertainment and guest speakers.  So much work needs to be done that we have formed "working groups" for some of these items.

Our next meeting is scheduled for April 9th, which is devoted solely to registration packages.

Big BIG News!

We are thrilled to announce that Winners and HomeSense have generously donated $50,000 in sponsorship for our conference!!!  This will significantly subsidize the registration fees for the conference, making it more affordable for people to attend.
